Thrive Day 1

Day 1:

Psalm 145: 8-16

8 The Lord is gracious and compassionate,
    slow to anger and rich in love.
9 The Lord is good to all;
    he has compassion on all he has made.
10 All your works praise you, Lord;
    your faithful people extol you.
11 They tell of the glory of your kingdom
    and speak of your might,
12 so that all people may know of your mighty acts
    and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
    and your dominion endures through all generations.
The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises
    and faithful in all he does.[a]
14 The Lord upholds all who fall
    and lifts up all who are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all look to you,
    and you give them their food at the proper time.
16 You open your hand
    and satisfy the desires of every living thing.

Reflection:

Lectio Divina
This method of scripture reflection invites us into God’s presence to listen for His particular word for us, at this particular moment in time.
  1. Read through the passage three times, more slowly each time.
    • First reading, listen to the overall passage.
    • Second reading, begin to listen to a specific word or phrase that
      jumps out to you.
    • Third reading, hone in on that word or phrase that jumps out more
      than the others.
  2. Allow a period of silence to reflect on that single word or short phrase.
    • What might God be trying to reveal to you through this passage/
      phrase/word? How might God be using it to shape you?
    • What is the meaning of the word? What comes to mind when you
      think of it? What is God communicating to you through that word?
    • How is God calling you to respond to what you just heard?
