Thyatira

Kevin Stamper

Jezebel didn't come with a sword — she came with a compromise. In the Old Testament she didn't need to destroy Israel's faith outright; she just had to blur it, mix it, make Baal reasonable and Yahweh optional. And it worked — until a prophet stood on a mountain and asked a nation which god they actually served. The church at Thyatira faced the exact same spirit a thousand years later, dressed in new clothes. A teacher with influence, a theology of accommodation, a reason to go along with the culture to get along in the economy. Christ's warning is the same as Elijah's: you cannot limp between two positions forever. The fire falls, and it reveals exactly what you've been worshiping all along.
